Job Overview
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, have issued an indicative short notice under Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 07/2026 for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) posts at the undergraduate (10+2) level. A total of 1,688 tentative vacancies will be filled across participating RRBs, covering the posts of Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Trains Clerk. A detailed notification with the post-wise and RRB-wise vacancy distribution will be released separately.
Eligibility
- Must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) or equivalent from a recognized board
- Age: 18 to 30 years as on 01 January 2027 (age relaxation as per rules in the detailed CEN)
- Typing skill test applies to the Clerk cum Typist posts
Salary & Selection
Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level 2 (₹19,900 initial basic pay) or Pay Level 3 (₹21,700 initial basic pay) of the 7th Central Pay Commission, depending on the post. Selection involves a First Stage Computer Based Test, Second Stage Computer Based Test, typing/skill test where applicable, document verification and a medical examination.

Applications are accepted online only through the official RRB recruitment portal. The application window opens on 15 October 2026 and closes on 13 November 2026 (11:59 PM). The application fee is ₹500 for general category candidates and ₹250 for reserved categories. Candidates are advised to verify their identity using Aadhaar while registering and to read the detailed CEN once published before applying.
